The higher the level of education, the fewer the children. Educated people realize the time and money it takes to properly rear and educate a child. There is also a much lower rate of child mortality in developed countries so they don't have to have three children to have one live to adulthood. Also in some underdeveloped countries, children work and bring income to the family. Another factor is availability of birth control and knowledge of how to use birth control.
Also women in developed countries have more rights and do not want to have lots of children to rear and care for

People in developed Countries understand the need for money to maintain their standards in life. This compels them to restrict having more children. Education is another important aspect to understand the need for small families. All these lack in underdeveloped Countries.

Birth control offers people in developed countries something called 'lifestyle choice'. Due to this, people can chose to have only a few kids, leaving them with more capital to spend frivolously on whatever they please.
In developing countries, access to 'family planning' clinics for example are not that readily available. Yet natural instincts will always be there - so people will always have sexual intercourse whether they have access to birth control / protection or not.

developed countries has more advanced technologies wehere in the cost of living is higher as compared with less dveloped coun tries. because of this I think parents are more concerned about the expenseS with regsrd to the cost of raising a child which includes clothing food, clothing shelter and most importantly education. ( or maybe less developed countries has more poor family who can not afford family entertainment and just "sleeps" all night.

In most commuities, using birth control is a violation of God's will. The spiritual leaders drum that into their heads. And in others, it's the maths of probability. The more children you have, the more likely it is that one of them will be able to take care of you when you are old.

because they have too many other things to do e.g. television, ipods ,work, food, music, stress, etc. Also women have much more control over what happens in their life and body, birth control, abortions, a certain ammount of independance from the men in their life.
