Ok so in the end of Curse of the Black Pearl, all of Cortez's gold is returned with blood so the curse is lifted...so
A. Why is the monkey still undead?
B. Why can't Bootstrap die?
I'm thinking maybe Bootstrap is still immortal because he was enslaved by Davy Jones prior to the curse being lifted...is this correct?

Yeah I figured we'll find out in the next one why Barbossa is still alive
and they did harm the monkey...Jack shot it about 4 times throughout the movie, but its immortal

I'm so glad someone else noticed this too. its been bothering me for a while, especially why Barbossa is still alive...I mean Jack killed him at the end of the black pearl!
Bootstrap cant die yet because he is on the edge of death, and has a sentence to still pay up with davey. if you watch through out the movie the only ones he takes on his ship are men who are about to die, in the scene where will gets caught he says, "you are neither dead nor dying, what is your purpose here." see he takes the dying. once the curse was lifted it only make bootstrap cloer to death.

Well, after the credits in the Curse of the Black Pearl, the monkey swam back to the cave and he stole the Aztec coin and became cursed again."Bootstrap Bill" served aboard the Black Pearl when it was captained by Jack Sparrow. When First Mate Barbossa staged a mutiny during their search for Isla de Muerta and the Aztec gold, Bootstrap Bill Turner was the only crewman who did not side with the mutineers, believing it to be a violation of the Pirate's Code. When the gold turned out to be cursed, turning the pirates into living skeletons, Bootstrap believed they deserved to remain cursed for betraying Jack. He sent one of the coins to his son in England to thwart the pirates' attempt to lift their curse. In retaliation, Barbossa had Bootstrap tied to a cannon which was thrown overboard. It was only after this that Barbossa learned that the blood of every man who had taken the Aztec gold was needed to break the curse, including that of Turner. Thus began the search for the missing gold medallion and the next member of the Turner bloodline.

If I remember the end of Black Peral correctly, the money took a piece of Cortez's gold.
As far as Bootstrap, the curse was that no one on that ship could die until all the Cortez gold was returned. I'm guessing that since Bootstrap was dying, and not quite dead yet, when the monkey stole the gold, the curse still applied to him.
Either that, or the voodoo woman saved him.

ok, watch the VERY END of the first movie (the curse of the black pearl) after the credits and you'll find out why the monkey is undead.
but if you don't want to watch it now, i'll just tell you. at the very end after the credits there is a short like 20 second clip of the monkey and it shoes him taking a piece of the aztec gold and becoming immortal again.
and you were correct. bootstrap can't die because he is eternally inslaved to Davy Jones' crew. ok so, when the strapped the cannon to Bootstrap's bootstraps and he sunk to the depths of Davy Jones' locker, and was unable to die and unable to move. he would have been trapped there eternally because he still was cursed from the aztec gold. and he can die, its just that davy jones would have to kill him.

At the end of the movie after the credits its shows the money taking a coin from the chest. That is why he is still undead and bootstrap said he was stuck at the bottom of the ocean for a good number of years so he made a deal with davy jones to crew on his ship for 100 years.

I think you are right about Bootstrap. And as far as the monkey, maybe the curse wasn't lifted on animals! Or it is just a little thing the writers decided to over look because the undead monkey is funny.

yes, bootstrap was immortal because of the curse, but apparently fell under Davy Jones curse which probably counteracted the other.
my question is why the monkey is still undead (the curse was lifted) and also why Barbosa is still alive, because he was shot and presumably killed at the end of BLACK PEARL....not sure why they do this. we'll find out in May, hopefully.

the monkey is still undead cuz if u watch after the end credits he takes a piece of the gold. & bootstrap cant die cuz he got saved by davy jones

I think your correct about Bootstrap, But the monkey can die but he hasnt been harmed so so although hes not immortal any more he just lives normally.
