It is considered very poor form to have someone else call in sick for you where I work. So I call in for my self, that way they get to grill me to see if I am really sick!

Always myself except for one time last year when I had a furious fever and couldn't hold the phone. I don't bother faking a voice if I'm not really sick either. All you have to say is that you have explosive diarrhea and people generally don't ask any more questions.

If I do call in I would call myself my boss would need proof that I was near death before I had someone call in. She does not play that game.

I do it myself. At my job the handbook clearly states that no one calling in for you is acceptable unless of course you're dead.
