I was all for us going after the terrorists and Bin Laden but I feel that was used as an excuse for getting Saddam Hussein.
Well, now the tyrant is dead and it seems to me that Bush is somewhat become a tyrant himself.
I watched 15 minutes of his address to the nation and had to cut the TV off. Why do we need more of our young men and women killed to satisfy his hunger for war?
Iraq is not America and they will never be like we are as far as their religious beliefs and customs and why don't he just let them home like he said they were last year?

I will take arguments from both sides because I am from a Republican family but I vote for the person - not the party. I haven't voted in 5 years so I guess I need to so that I have the right to b*tch. LoL!

I have one question for you when we went in to Germany did we just make sure Hitler was dead and then leave? No we still have military bases in Germany today we never left! You can't just go into a country and take out the Dictator and leave. If we did that the terrorists would take over Iraq as soon as we left. And sure you can say it's the Iraqi people's job to fight for their own country but look at it this way in Iraq you basically have a battered wife syndrome for the whole country! The people have been living in fear for so long now that they just don't know how to rise up but they are learning. If you talk to our troops that have been over there it's not just killing going on things are getting better! My cousin was over there for a year and the stories that he's told me just prove that what were doing is right. We have to stay in Iraq until this thing is finished if we don't then as I said before the terrorists will take the country back and the next thing you know we'll be fighting a war here in the USA I would rather not have that happen. This country needs to stand up and support what we are doing! People never would have sat around bad mouthing our President and Troops in WW ll the way they are now! And I'm just wondering what their religious beliefs have to do with making their country free? They have the right to feel safe in their country for their women to be able to walk down the street and not have to worry about getting raped by one of the Dictator’s men! I support the President and our Troops with what they are doing 100%!

The reason is simple. It is not enough to win a fight (eg occupy a town) but it is necessary to control it for a time- giving the local troops the time needed to train, establish local links (like a net of informants) and generally get to control the location. That way they (being Iraquis they can tell the difference between Sunni, Shia or Kurd, not to mention foreighner jihadis) can effectively police the location and "keep the peace"

Otherwise, you leave the town to the local police- who act in the dark. And the logical (to them) solution is to get rid of all the potential troublemakers. Therefore the Sunnis are driven out- which makes arab nations mad, which means more aid to sunni jihadists, which means more violence, which means more US involvement... and so a vicious circle begins to turn. It CAN be broken of course- either by killing all the Sunnis or by getting more _reliable_ troops (which means US) in.

You can also choose the Dem option- cut and run. In which case you can guarantee another Gulf War between Iran and Arabs. The last one killed some 1 200 000 people. Nice prospect?
Of course, to the Dems it means nothing. They can blame it all on Bush and that's the only thing that counts.

Similar thing to the Vietnam surrender- everyone blames Nixon but no one remembers the names of the Dems who sabotaged all the aid packages to South Vietnam.

That's the problem people have with Bush. It's not the War on Terror, it's that it seems the terrorists aren't being touched. The terrorists who killed us are not the Iraqi insurgents, or the Iraqis period, for that matter. There's no reason we should even be in Iraq. We have done everything Bush stated we were in Iraq for; WMD's (there were none), Saddam (neck broken), and other, well disputed reasons, so why are we still there? When will we get the actual terrorists?

K-E-G this is your shrink talking now!

from my point of view,

there is no difference or separation between so called God, the Devil, George Bush, the 20,000 troops, the "terrorists", Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, Mother Teresa, Gandhi and You and I

We are basically sending 20,000 of ourselves across the world to find a bunch of ourselves who are hiding in basements, back alleys and mountain caves and as best as we can, control, dominate, manipulate and maybe kill the F out of ourselves...... a typical family feud!

And when we get bored of all that ........ we will do something else.

YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!!! You actually believe that sunni against shi'i stuff?!!! you must be really crazy. The Muslims are not doing that down there. That is what Bush is saying to make us believe that US has a reason to be down there and that the iraqis are agianst each other and they have no order. THE ONLY THING GOING ON IN IRAQ IS THE DEFENSE AGAINST THE US. DON'T BELIEVE THE MEDIA. Please people, dont believe it. Bush has control over all that. Over ALL OF IT. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAR AGAINST SUNNI AND SHI'I. LISTEN TO IRAQI TELEVISION AND HEAR WHAT THEIR PROBLEMS ARE. THE ONLY, ONLY PROBLEMS THAT IRAQ IS HAVING IS THE US TROOPS IN THEIR COUNTRY. STOP KILLING OUR TROOPS BUSH. YOU ARE ACTUALLY KILLING MORE PEOPLE THAN THE AMOUNT YOU CLAIM SADDAM KILLED.

KEG.. Who do you think is causing all the terrorism in Iraq? Its terrorists doing it. If we leave, do you honestly think they will stop, or will they take that as a sign of retreat and set their sights on the American homeland again?
