I have always thought "use to be" was correct, but have noticed recently that most people write "used to be".

"USED TO BE" IS A PAST TENSE,1. I USED TO BE A STUDENT,OR1a. Use the past tense to express the past tense.

In conversation it sounds "use to be". The proper phrase (to denote past tense) is "used to be".

it sounds like "use to be" but it is "used to be" while using it in past

i use used to be when something of the past changed recently or if it hasn't changed dramiticaly i say use to be.

"use to be" is just wrong english
"used to be' is right.
