You just dip the cutting in the root stimulator and then pot the cutting. Root stimulators were called root hormones but in fact what they contain is fungicide, insecticide and fertilizer so that the stalk has a chance to survive.

Liquid root stimulator is used on newly planted plants. Rooting hormone is used on cuttings before potting.
