search explore for VNC for more...
Virtual Network Computing (VNC) is a desktop sharing system which uses the RFB (Remote FrameBuffer) protocol to remotely control another computer. It transmits the keyboard presses and mouse clicks from one computer to another relaying the screen updates back in the other direction, over a network.

VNC is platform-independent — a VNC viewer on any operating system can connect to a VNC server on any other operating system. There are clients and servers for almost all operating systems and for Java. Multiple clients may connect to a VNC server at the same time. This technology's popular uses include remote technical support, and accessing files on one's work computer from one's home computer.

VNC was originally developed at AT&T. The original VNC source code and many modern derivatives are open source under the GNU General

Do you need terminal emulation? the Ability to remote in?
Just a Dumb Terminal access, something like a Citrix level access?
Whatever you want , there is a Software package to do it. So the key thing is decide what type of access, Remote to Access, Access to Files, Ability to run ALL things, etc
Then that will define the Package, remote access may need something like PC REMOTE, and I think Microsoft has a package specific to their gear. You can also mix and match, for example, you can do things like Just access the Files of your PC, but Print where-ever you want to ( the caveat being that certain software has to be put on each PC with that ability).
So the type of access you will want will define the HOW DO I, and the LEVEL of access... something Some work places will want to know, unless you plan on porting this access via a protocol that you think work cannot detect

From what I can guess is that you are a non-unix / linux etc user. You probably use Microsoft Windows and want to access your desktop and folders as if you were sitting on your very own PC.
This can be done using the best application I know by word of mouth.

However, do not expect to play videos etc over this application, as smoothly as you can normally. A lot depends on your Home and office internet connection.

Hope it helps.

I prefer using Hamachi (VPN software) and RDP/VNC. Hamachi is a secure VPN client that creates an initial connection. RDP Terminal Service Client is free from Microsoft I use that to get a desktop of my computer. Pretty easy all free and secure!

Lots of ways! It depends what you have set up at home.

You could connect using HTTP, SSH, FTP, PPTP, L2TP, SMB, RDP...

Try giving some hints as to which operating system you use at home, and what you want to achieve by connecting to it.

Try software like "PC Anywhere", or see if you can find the software for free on a site like "download.com".
