Palings are flat boards. Pine is timber from a pine tree. Treated pine has been impregnated with chemicals to preserve it and deter termites. :)

mm pine a verysoft wood can be easily sanded then i would put more preserve on it. my question is why did you put up a pine fence in the first place. I live in british columbia vancouver island and i will garauntee you that if i put up a pine fence here preserved or not i just wasted a whole pile of money because it wont last 5 years. hope you live in a much dryrer climate. every coat of paint stain ect you put on this fence will help it last longer.

Good old fashion rubbing alcohol will get the ink out, without hurting the wood. It's going to change the color of the board if the stuff used for treating it has any color in it. If the same product they use is available, take a little & dilute it 50% & dab it on with a soft cloth til it matches when it's dry.

Like any wood it is a porous substrate if you put any type of liquid on it ,ie thinners meths mineral turps you will spread the problem out the only way is to sand it out I assume when you say treated you are referring to CCA ie copper chromeium arsenic if you go down the path of sanding it were a resporator.
