How do i protect myself against stalkers?

I have been on yahoo messanger for over 5 years and had all sorts of people contact me. Its hard to tell who is honest but the ones that really scare me any more are the ones who appear to be stalkers, is there a wat to find out who you are chatting with?

Chatting is a great way to meet all sorts of people, but of course, you will meet some guys who are a real pain in the neck.

Don't give your home phone number and much less your address to anyone. If someone needs to speak to you, they can talk to you on the Messenger. If you want to meet with someone, do so in a public and crowded place. Never alone.

You can also get a background check on anyone before meeting the guy in person.

If you have a stalker hiding is the best way, you can tell the cops but until they hurt you they can do little. There are lots of crazy people in the world, most are just harmless horn dogs that think the Internet is a way to get laid.

well its a strange question but hit a wire on me,i had a friend who we chatted almost daily,then lately if i im her she would feel cold and give excuses,so i stopped it ,some people think they feel good when someone alwasy contacts them ,since she is that way,y care ,i am not contacting her any more where u aint aprreciated dont go,

yes you talk to them and ask them a bit about themselves. if you have been talking on there for five years you should have a pretty good idea of the warning signs by now.
