Hi there dear. A home pregnancy test is one that you buy in the drug store and do at home. It is a simple test kit that usually comes with some type of stick shaped piece that you will hold under your stream of urine while you go to the bathroom. (some of the older types have you put the urine in a small cup and use that). The stick is treated with a special chemical that reacts to the presense of HCG which is one of the hormones secreted by pregnancy. Most tests will turn one color if negative and another color if positive. Some of them will either have a plus or a minus symbol that will appear. They are very simple and are the same tests that your doctor or clinic will use. They cost anywhere from 1$ to 12$ depending on where you buy them and the brand name.
The drawback is that if the test is used too soon it will not be able to pick up a sufficient amount of HCG to give a positive result. That is why a negative test result can be wrong. Wait a week or so and try it again. 99% of the time if the test is positive (meaning that it detected the HCG) you ARE pregnant as nothing else will cause a positive reaction. The exception is if you are having a miscarriage, it may pick up hormone levels even tho they are dropping and the pregnancy is not viable.
Some doctors will not accept the urine test as absolute proof of pregnancy and will want a blood test to double check. The blood test is highly accurate at a very early stage. Sometimes you can call your doctor and ask her to schedule one if you know she will want one anyway.
I hope I have answered your question. Feel free to write to me if you have any other questions.

Its a test you pee on. It reads the HCG levels that elevate in your body when you are pregnant. Every woman has a natural level of HCG, but it starts to double every 2 days after about 1 week of pregnancy. The home pee test detects those, in your urine.

It is a stick that you pee on to determine whether you are pregnant. You can find them in the store right next to the condoms. (an aisle all the teens on the board asking "am I pregnant?" obviously don't know how to find)

it is like a pen you take the lid off it to wee on the stick and then replace the lid when finished, then wait a minute and the result shows on a little window. they are very easy to use and understand.
