Bottlenecks, Deforestation, genetic drift, over-exploitation, diseases, natural disasters, Human impact (dolphins in the Yangtze river), pollution, introduction of new species, climate change, and many more... look on the cities (red list) website for a full list of flora and fauna that are on the endangered list Or have been extinct. There are thousands. Also if you download the program, vortex you can run your own simulation on any animal you like to see what could be causing extinction and what could be done to possible save it. Some animals can not be saved and maybe that's the way it was meant to be.

Unfortunately there are many.
Fragmentation of habitats - if populations can't interact their genetic diversity will gradually decrease (inbreeding) then if a disease comes along they'll all suffer. that's the problem cheetahs are facing.
Loss of habitat - usually due to humans developing, this is one of the reasons why pandas are endangered.
Global warming - has been partially responsible for killing 100's of species of amphibians, because their skin is very permeable skin rays are mutating their cells causing deformities like extra limbs or underdeveloped organs. so they die or they cant feed as well and then die. Polar bears will be extinct in the wild in the next 50 years, due to the melting ice, no ice, cant feed, so die. Global warming and cooling is a natural occurance resulting in ice ages around which time wooly mammoths lived and hot climates such as when the dinosaurs roamed the earth. Unfortunately the global warming that is happening now is not natural it is anthropegenic (man made) and is happening too fast for animals to evolve and adapt.
Hunting - for food like the Dodo, its extinct because humans and human pets killed them for food. Because dodos had no natural predators, they evolved to be flightless (flight is energetically expensive and not worth having if you dont need it) then when humans came they had no way of escaping. Tigers are endangered beacause their body parts are very valueable as they are used in traditional medicine. Or whales, many species of which were hunted to almost extinction for their meat and bones.
Invasive species - all ecosystems are naturally balanced if a new species is introduced it can be diasterous. It can kill native species, bring new diseases or outcompete others for food etc.
In most cases its a combination of these factors that results in animals extinction.

Animals (and other organisms) become extinct for a lot of reasons, but it really comes down to one main one... the inability to adapt to their environment. As long as an organism is able to survive through adaptation (structural or behavioural), it should be able to pass on those genes to the next generation. If a species dies before being able to pass on thier genes, then it becomes extinct. Some reasons that would affect an organisms chance of survival are: predation, lack of resources, competition for resources, low population, pollution, sudden environmental changes, low birthrate

For each time in earths history different animals have become extinct for different reasons. Sometimes it is due to outer forces such as metors, inside such as weather changes or a combo of both (cause and effect). In recent history the main causes have been human. We have been able to save some such as the California Condor, while others are subject to international dispute. This is the case of the whales.

the reasons 4 animal extinction mainly falls on deforestation..then comes the destruction of environment and loss of habitat...of course all d reasons 4 animal endangerment are only d results of deforestation.......the other reasons include the killing of animals for their products n poaching of animals......
next comes the changes in the environment like change in the temperature that is global temperature , climate and weather due to global warming and other phenomenon.....it is also due to the changes that take place in the present environment and the developments....
the steps taken to preserve wild life are the setting up of national parks and wild life sanctuaries ......many legislations have been passed to prevent poaching of animals , deforestation and destruction of environment......public awareness is spread among the people through mass media and other means to make them realize that if the ecological balance is disturbed ,it does leads to a lot of anarchy....
some of the wild life sanctuaries are
1 gir forest -lion
2 mudhumalai wild life sanctuary -elephants
3 kanha national park- tigers n sambhars
4 Corbett national park- deers
5 dudwa national park-all kinds of rare animals

The resons for Naimal Extiction are:
1. Natural Disaster
2. Environmental Changes
3. Hunting
4.Disease like Epidemics
Steps to Preserve wildlife:
1. Plant new forests and preserve the eisting ones.
2. Reduce the emission of gree house gases. Which affests the ozone layer and hence is the reason for so drastic climate changes.
3. Abolition of heedless and senseless hunting.
4. Proper discharge of toxic wastes so that it doesn't affect the animals whether on land or sea.
5 wildlife sancturies/national parks and the animals for which they are famous:
1.Gir National Park, India
Gir National Park is the probably the last refuge of the Asiatic lion;
2.Kaziranga National Park, India
Kaziranga for One-Horned Rhinoceros,
3.Sunderban National Park, India
For Bengal Tigers
4.Rann Of Kutch
Gujarat, India is famous for its large herds of wild asses as it is for its lions.
5.Bhitar Kanika, Orissa, India for Tortoise, Turtles ets.

Reason for animal extinction-Hunting, bad calamity
wildife sancturies- Bronx Park USA, Guinddy-Tamil Nadu state-India, Vedanthangal bird sanctuary-India, Moscow zoo park, Mysore zoo park.
Steps taken to preserve wildlife-building more wildlfe sanctuary, amending very strict rules against hunting animals, stopping forest fire, preserving ecology. Above all being a good citizen.

reasons for extincation is men hunting down animals and killing them and because we are hunting them there species is getting smaller. Also wer are destroying their habitat and the animals themselves are making them extinct because if one species of animal likes food and another animal like the same food there could be competition for the food resulting in the species dying out

bronx zoo is one and san diego zoo is another there was this sotroy of this woman who rescued Animals who were abused but they were rare animals.
Humans are animals exinction and so are climate changes. For instance there will be no more polar bears thanks to US neing careless and reckless to the planet that the ice glaciers are melting and polar bears are drowning. IT was US that killed off sabertooth because we wanted food and the teeth....
Pretty much scratch out the climate chnages....humans are the cause of animals dying.
