Queer used to be an insult to gay people, like ****** was an insult to blacks. But to (supposedly) make these insults less effective, the communities themselves incorporated them into their lingo. Homosexuality is normal, and gays mock words like queer by using them so gay bashers can't.

I think my Mom came up with it when as a little boy I tried on her 5 in pumps and could walk better than she could. She said "Now, ain't that queer?" We all agreed it was a possibility.

queer is a term used in the past to describe gays before people's minds started to accept gays more. Now days, many gays use it as their own description of gay lifestyle, not to be derogatory in any way.

Its an old descriptive term, depending on who is using it, might be derogatory or it might not. In most cultures there are familiar words like this.

Like heterosexuality, if its normal, why are so many questions posted by people who shouldn't be breeding?

Derogatory terms are not a definition of a minority group.Or do you use the "N" word for blacks and various derogatory terms for other people of various ethnicity's or religions?Do you think that those terms define what each group is?
