Astrology is more of an art than a science.

I agree that they calculate the movement of planets etc., but their effect on our life is really nothing.

Well do you believe that something like 'movement of a planet can affect your life'

Please do not believe it

Just try to find one astrology book in the science section. Astrology uses science but it is NOT a science. It's more like religion because "belief" is vital not any proof.
Those of us that took science in school may remember something called "the scientific method".

The scientific method is the best way yet discovered for winnowing the truth from lies and delusion. The simple version looks something like this:

1. Observe some aspect of the universe.
2. Invent a tentative description, called a hypothesis, that is consistent with what you have observed.
3. Use the hypothesis to make predictions.
4. Test those predictions by experiments or further observations and modify the hypothesis in the light of your results.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until there are no discrepancies between theory and experiment and/or observation.

When consistency is obtained the hypothesis becomes a theory and provides a coherent set of propositions which explain a class of phenomena. A theory is then a framework within which observations are explained and predictions are made.

Consistency is crucial for science while in astrology there is none. In fact in some sciences the future can be predicted far better. If you are pregnant; astrologers and psychics may be around 50% accurate to determine the sex of your child. Aminocentesis and sonograms are 99% accurate.

There have been tests though.

One set of tests have been done in 1985, by the science magazine Nature, together with the San Francisco chapter of the National Council for Geocosmic Research. They recommended the 28 professional astrologers who took part, and help designed the tests. Click the link below for details.

Bottom line is they failed their own test.

You can believe in anything you want
That is why God gave you FREE WILL

Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it.
Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held.
Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books.
Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin.
Believe nothing just because someone else believes it.
Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true

Horoscopes
A horoscope is a map of the zodiacal circle with the earth at the center. The top of the circle represents the sun at its highest point during the day and left and right of that are the eastern and western horizons. Your horoscope charts the relative positions of the sun, moon, planets, and stars at a specific time and place of your choosing (e.g., the date/time/location of your birth). Astrologers don't use "clock time." Rather, they measure it as "sidereal" time, as measured from the equinox. Once the date and time are selected and calculated as sidereal time and the location known and plotted, the astrologer consults an emphemeris -- a table listing the angles and locations of the sun, moon, planets, and constellations at any given time--to construct the chart.

Astrology
Fact or Fiction?
Interest in astrology has persisted throughout the centuries, occasionally falling out of favor but always rebounding. Today, with practitioners in nearly every country, astrology's popularity is stronger than ever. Some may regard astrology as superstitious nonsense and without scientific basis. Others acknowledge the gravitational forces exerted on our planet by the sun and moon and deduce that the planets have similar powers that can be charted through astrology. Still others maintain that the symbolism of astrology can provide a deeper understanding of ourselves and of events. The ancient civilizations are gone, but their gift of astrology survives. If it didn't work, it would long ago have taken its place alongside them in the footnotes of history. We welcome you on your exciting and rewarding journey as you continue to explore astrology, the oldest of the sciences!

So is that explained to be real enough for you ????

Yes horoscopes are real and are specific for a particular person. Belief is a different matter you may or may not but the stars in your birth chart give their effects throughout your life and because of these effects every day or month you feel different.

Some are dead right on for my days, sometimes off. Says good day, its a bad day. On bad day predictions, I ignore it.

I just read them time from time to see the accuracy and out of curiosity.

I think one time I caught one reading being repeated for a different astronical sign. In a local newspaper.

No, you don't have to believe them. They are just a fun way to past a few minutes each day.
And if by coincidence something applies to YOU..hey! It might just make your day.
