I'm thinking of buying a F plate old shape XR3i and wondered as all 19 years olds do... how fast is it?

Unfortunately, I live in the US so we don't have the option of getting a Escort XR3i. But I did some research online and found the following stats. For what year of the Escort XR3i, I'm not sure.....but here they are. I also put some links to reviews of the XR3i in the sources section where you might also be able to find the info you seek.

Ford Escort XR3i
Engine: 1.5 Litre
Max Power: 115 BHP
0-60mph: 10.1 sec
Top Speed: 116 MPH (187 km/h)
Weight: 1220 kg
Fuel Economy: 21.4 MPG

Its very old technology now, and will rust to peices. very hard to find one anyway, and they are very very slow. I can recommend a similar car
.. the vauxhall astra mk2 gte 16v. They were the fastest non turbo front wheel drive production cars ever built. 0-6 in 7 seconds. and 140 mph. they aslo have a cool digital dash. they are 15obhp and weight next to noithin. (895kg) Make sure its a 16v nt an 8v.. an 8v just aint the same. A 16v will let you go just as fast if quicker than a modern civic type R.

ps. ignor the idiot that says a xr2 will do 0-60 in 7 seconds, he is full of sh**. and turbo one will, but not a normal xr2 or xr2i.. they are 10 seconds.

112 mph top speed - 0 - 60 probably 9 - 10 secs

go for a Suzuki Swift GTI instead if you can find one

XR3is have no image these days IMHO

remember XR3is only have 115 bhp! not much in a heavish car mate!

I had one on an F plate and that used to go around 120 if I remember rightly. Mind it was nearly new when I had it so I guess I am showing my age............... For the record I much preferred my Mark one XR2.

There are much nicer boy racer cars around than XR3's though so have a scout about.

120mph and 8.5 0-60 so not exactly shabby, but will be outgunned by more modern hot-hatches have a look at this enthusiast site, it has some info that might help

I'd personally recommend my current beast - Renaultsport Clio 182 Trophy, 140mph and 6.3/6.5 (depending where you read) to 60, grips like a limpit and goes like stink, not easy or cheap to buy though, they only made 500.

i wouldnt bother unless its bin owned by a collector at that age of vehicle it will probably have problems with corrosion especially in the boot well and the engine will more than likely be ready to pop and if your lucky might just about scrape a ton downhill best of luck anyway

Compared to a less sporty, more modern car it's disappointing. Was quick in it's day, not anymore.
