Its fairly obvious! A doctor cutting an artery does not just leave it to bleed, the artery is either tied off or sealed with heat. The same is done with both big and small blood veseels. Someone cutting their wrist is just leaving the blood vessels open to bleed so of course they are likely to die;

I depends on the situation. If they slit their wrists and don't seek medical attention, they will bleed to death. However, if the person gets in a car accident and the arm is pinned against a piece of metal but is still amputated, the metal may be blocking the exposed artery thereby temporarily acting as a bandage preventing the wound to bleed because the metal is blocking the flow of blood from being released, but when that piece of metal is removed, they will resume bleeding causing massive blood loss leading to death unless the wound can be closed again or the bleeding can be stopped temporarily until prompt medical attention can be received. I hope that this answers your question. -James

death occurs primarly due to loss of blood and after few days due to infection. whether you cut the wrist or whole arm you are not going to die but only due to bleeding. Amputation is done by doctors and hence they close all the outlets of bleeding and one person is alive , suppose a person mets with an accident and loses his arm then immediately his bleeding should be halted by wrapping with wet clothes and rushed up immediately to hospital for treatment. Same is the case for the wrist cut also.

When people cut their wrists and artery's they will bleed to death, when doctors amputate a limb they cauterised the wounds and repair the artery's so that the person does not continue to bleed and hence they will survive - it is possible to live after cutting your wrists as long as you receive medical attention

The human body is an odd element; at the same time as a limb is by marvel torn off, the body would often times note of this aggravating journey and clamp down on the blood vessels that could want to otherwise grant the limb and avert blood loss. A decrease on the wrist, conversely, would not commonly signal a catastrophic replace to the body, so the "clamping" result would not happen, and that's a lot a lot less stressful for the guy to bleed to lack of existence.

Depends how they cut there wrist, most people cut them across the veins, but if they are cut along the length the veins cannot close up and bleeding is more profuse, when a limb is severed again the veins can close up, either way you could still die, and it would hurt a bit, plus it all depends how many big plasters you have, why do you wanna know??

If some one is trying to kill themselves they might slit their wrists, and then not seek medical attention (obviously), so he will die. However if an arm is amputated it is likely to be done by a doctor or surgeon who will stop the bleeding (probably cauterise the wound) so they will not die.

doubtful. In either case it would really depend on how fast you got medical attention and if you were able to control the bleeding.
