I'm looking at getting a came for the PC but am way out of touch on what's out there.

I used to love the original Tomb Raider. I liked the puzzle aspect of it and that there was some blasting but not too much. Or I like Rally racing ones.

Any thoughts out there for what would be worth trying.

I definitely recommend Prince of Persia Sands of Time! I love this game and in my opinion better and more fun than most of the TR games. It's totally Tomb-Raider style action, (platforms and combat), luscious graphics and sound, and you can pick it up on budget for £4.99 or less!
It came out in around 2003/2004 so it'll run nicely on most modern home PCs
e.g. www.game.com.uk, 2nd hand (e.g. amazon, ebay)

If you liked tomb raider. I'd look at First Person Shooters. A good Example would be Quake II or III or Half-Life or Half-Life 2. The first of both those will probably only cost you a fiver on Ebay these days and will run on an older machine.

It's hard to tell from what you like. I was GOING to recommend Silent Hill but that might be too scary. There is a new racing game out made by Microsoft under the name of RalliSport Challenge (2?). Have you ever tried any of the Civilization games? Go with Civilization 4 (a turn-based strategy game with great graphics) if you want to be going to sleep the next morning.

probably best to check the budget section and try something like theif. It may appeal to buy the latest game but remember they come down in price so fast, and it sounds like its been a while since you played PC games they might get a bit too tricky
(not as in too hard to learn controls, but rather can you be bothered to learn them, is the toruble I find)

Best to buy some budget games and the latest PC gamer, and go with demos. but otherwise Id say resident evil if its available, and theif like other people have.

or Farcry but it is a shooter as well as strategy.

The only game I play regularly is Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas, and I bought it over a year and a half ago.

Put simply, (in my opinion) it is the best game ever made! You can go round nicking cars, beating people up, joyriding, do missions, car chases etc... there is so much freedom involved.

I highly recommend it anyway.
