Can anyone suggest a method or any place where we can remove light scratches from the windshield without replacing it. It the lights it is very troublesome to drive with those scratches

To some level this can be removed by buffing by some specialists. This is a laborious semi-manual process. If you are in bangalore you can get it done by a couple of shops in a small lane between sampangi tank road, and mission road.

have you thought about wrecking you windshield and claiming insurance? I would not recommend this but I lost a windshield to a falling coconut sometime ago and could claim insurance for replacement.

polishing of the windscreen may help but is's not widely available. better you get the windshield replaced. It's too risky to drive at night with scratched windshield

Auto glass companies can polish out scratches if there are not too deep. I suggest you try your phone book. You might also ask at auto repair shops. There is a webpage for the chain, safelite.com which locates shops in a given zip-code .
