Well the Darwinists folks will tell you that the slanted eye was needed for some purpose. Perhaps to keep the blowing snow of Mongolia out of their eyes, or perhaps slanted eyes makes you see better in particular climate? To prevent snow blindness perhaps, since the ancient people of Alaska had the same feature.
If you want my opinion I'd say it's because God loves differences and differences add beauty and depth to the world...

Why don't caucasions have slanted eyes? We can relate as to why some cultures have darker or lighter skin, why some are smaller or larger than other cultures but why don't caucasions have slanted eys? I have looked on the net but never found an answer to this.
Make any sense?

Its the genes. Everyone has different characteristics and it just so happens people from the orient have slanted eyes.
The basic mechanisms that produce evolutionary change are natural selection and genetic drift; these two mechanisms act on the genetic variation caused by mutation, genetic recombination and gene flow.
Through genetic drift, the frequency of heritable traits changes randomly. Through natural selection, organisms with traits that help them to survive and reproduce will have more offspring, passing these beneficial traits on to the next generation. This leads to advantageous traits becoming more common in each generation, while disadvantageous traits become rarer. Given enough time, this passive process can result in varied adaptations to changing environmental conditions.
With this and what Armygal said about mongolians needing slanted eyes to survive, you can say it's all about the survival of the fittest.
Other people (without slanted eyes) might have lived in the orient thousands of years ago, but because of the wheather, climate and the environment, they most likely MOVED OUT because as Armygal said, the snow or some other environmental effects, drove them away, as they didn't have slanted eyes to prevent snow blindness or just couldn't see better in that climate.
It's the same with polar bears in the arctic. Why do bears in the Arctic have white fur (it's actually translucent, but appears white) and not brown fur like other bears fron America?
Well, as I said it's all about the survival of the fittest. Bears with brown fur might have also lived in the arctic but just didn't survive. But those with White fur did because their white fur was a good camouflage especially with the snowy environment. So they were harder to be attacked by preys. But those bears with the brown fur were easily easily seen against the white snow, so they were easier to be attacked by preys thousands of years ago.
Do you get it now? Everyone has different characteristics because of our genes and DNA. And special traits are just more prominent in specific places because of environmental factors which can contribute to a species survival rate.
In other words, it's all about the survival of the fittest. If you don't have what it takes to survive in a certain environment, you die or move to another place. While those who survive, reproduce and that's how we end up with different characteristics from people from different places.

Yes, Armygal, it's because God wanted it that way.
So much easier than thinking.
