I am currently using a Nokia Phone which is unblocked.
Is it possible to purchase a devise so that two seperate sim cards can be used on the same phone

They are called a dual sim card.
I've used one for ages. Sometimes they can degrade and I've had to replace them. I've used the piggy back ones. They take up more room in the phone though and can cause stress on the casing.
The most recent ones I've used are the one where you have to cut up the sims to fit both in. They take up much less room but can be a squeeze. Be careful cutting the sims up. They come with templates to help. Some sellers also offer sim cutters (like a punch machine) but I've managed fine with scissors.
Some phones don't work with them. Most do though. (mine have always been Sony Ericssons).
You have to switch the phone off, then on again and that way the gadget changes from one sim to the other. Usually the only way to tell it's occured is by looking to the provider details displayed (i.e O2 or orange).
I've got mine from Hong Kong usually - off ebay.
Prices can vary but they are worth considering if you have, say a contract sim and also a PAYG one that offers free GPRS or cheap texts.
I've tried the multi sim cards too. Couldn't get them to work properly so gave up on them.

If it's unblocked, then you should be able to use whatever simcard you like in there anyway, unless it's fixed to work only with one network, like Orange for example.

If it is fixed for one network, you can go to one of those little 'phone shops (they crop up on street corners all over the place in London) where they'll be able to free it of its loyalty while you wait, which shouldn't cost more that £10, if that.

It effectively consists of shutting down and rebooting the 'phone's memory and starting it again from internal factory settings though, so you may want to avoid doing that if you've anything stored on there you're reluctant to lose.

yes you can. there are two types one uses a piggyback method, but you will need space under the battery. the other involves cutting the two sim cards to fit in one sim sizes adapter.
