introduced a new Apple product, and the people yelled, a screamed, and acted like politically active people when "their man" has just won an election! Why would this be? When a shoe manufacturer comes out with a new line of shoe, people don'g act like that! Even the introduction of a new model car does not create such excitement. What is it about Apple that causes fans to "go crazy" at an event hosted by the company president? And he did not even have on nice clothes! Is this some sort of a cult?

It's a press conference for the purpose of marketing
it's basically all just a set up ... they contact people who are interested to hear news that they've already got a heads up on ... fill a big room with "apple" people and then announce the news,
It's hardly an unprecidented cheer ... they've gathered for this purpose, apple breaking into the phone business. As for other "marketed" items well they're not holding press conferences because they're producing the same item just new name and new design and it's not necessary to have a big thing over it. It's all about marketing ... another new and useful product from a co. who's already produced "successful" products.

It was probably the people from Cisco screaming with excitement cause all the money there going to make suing Apple !

I think people get excited when Apple does something good because they tend to break up monopoly's on market share. Competition and innovation are what make capitalism so great.
