Wireless broadband is basically just an idea right now, there are a few cellphone companies offering "high speed wireless" but its not true broadband...your only other option is cable....however if DSL is what you want you do not have to have phone service installed in order to have dsl installed....depending on the company you have you can have a telephone number assigned to your account and just set it for data only, then you have a phoneline but no phone service.

The only way to get broadband without having a phone line is via cable.Soon there will be Wimax which is true wireless broadband over long distances (currently on trial in Milton Keynes in the UK) but that's a while off. At a push you could, by consent, tap off a neighbours broadband service wirelessly (a good idea if a number of you get together & share the cost).

ntl does broadband without the need to purchase a telephone. obviously broadband is different to wireless in that wireless is the network inside your house that connects all your computers to your broadband modem via a wireless router. The opposite to wireless is wired i.e. Ethernet.

How is the wireless router going to get the broadband?
You could try hooking to a neighbours' wireless router.
