generator is 5000 watts with single 240 volt and 4 110 volt outlets. i would like to wire generator through home's breaker box or at power meter box if possible to power refer, furnace, waterpump/heater and lights.

it needs to run in to your circuit box... GET A PROFESSIONAL unless you are an electrician (then you wouldn't be asking). There MUST be a disconnect of the lines leading to the main service... you can not back feed power into the system.. this is a huge danger to linemen working on the lines.

are you sure th generator can handle powering the entire house? it seems rather small.

Unless you are knowledgeable in automatic generator disconnects, do yourself a favor and hire a reputable electrician. This is something you don't want to just try to put together if you have no clue as to how they work.
