i have the lga 775 socket & Intel® 915GV Express chipset

No, that's a P-IV socket. I'd also strongly recommend against removing the CPU unless it's failed. That socket is notorious for bent pins; the pins are on the socket and if bent are impossible to straighten by Intel's own admission.

my partner is a computer builder and he says its highly likley to support it but you will have to check your motherboards spec first.

chips can be removed if you are careful and dont touch the copper pins
