Cats! They make great house pets without tearting up everything(even when they still have their claws, in most cases), they don't slobber, they eat so neat and clean themselves aftewards, they don't smell, they don't drag out trash, they use a litterbox, they don't dig holes in your yard *my beagles dug a hole so deep that all you could see was from their neck up* , and they are very loving and loyal as well.
Yes cat's are independent, but when they are house cats, they become like a family member, and they miss you and whine- alot- when seperated from you. If you don't believe me, have guest over and put them in a room by themselves!

Definitely cats. Cats don't eat like dogs, till they throw up. Cats like their space and will give you yours at times. They will love you forever and despite their size, will protect you.

Dogs! By far.
They can be everything from your protector, your buddy, they can assist those with special needs, they help keep you active.. there are unlimited reasons why they are so awesome.
Don't get me wrong, kitties are also great but there is still no comparison.
