I'm really sorry that you had to go through this, Katrina must have been hard, I live in Australia, so I don't truly know how bad it was, but I've seen a lot of footage. About your girlfriend, maybe there is something going on at her end? Why doesn't she know if she wants to be with you? She may have just fallen out of love, or is having troubles emotionally. If you really love her, then just stand by her, and eventually she may come round. Prove yourself o be a loyal man, and if she loves you, then all is good.

I guess the best thing you can do is,show her how much you still love her, actions speak a lot louder than words..
Send her flowers,go see her, send cards.I am sure you can think of a lot of things to do that don't cost an arm and a leg.
Communication is the big key here, ask her to voice why she fells that she can't trust you, give her a chance to say things even if it's not what you want to hear. When you respond, talk quietly, and respectfully.

Hey dude, it's natural. My girl friend and I talked whole day and suddenly after 3 weeks we didn't talked to each other. After investigating with few science books i realized it was natural.
She thinks that she is an independent lady and you think that she cannot live without you.
ONLY ONE CURE.
Just go to her and ask her out for a walk on the streets (sea wall is better). Don't talk about your relationship. Just talk about old memories and illogical topics like weather, climate, new dress in the town, new shop in the street. Finally one golden rule. Whenever u talk to her just keep on saying her name. for e.g Where are u now Mary?. Do u like these breeze Mary?. Mary u are great.

OK so you have told her how you have not been involved with anybody else. But have you asked her about the same. For 4 months when you didn't called her, remember that she also didn't called you.
