I will never open an umbrella indoor.
I will never put a hat on a bed (sometimes I do it by mistake, you know, in the middle of packing or whatever, so I jump and scream around to erase the stigma)
I will never go under a ladder. (even if you are not superstitious, why take the chance of a fallen object on your head?)
I will never kill a spider in the evening (because it is a sign of hope)
(a spider in the morning is a sign of sadness, and a spider at noon is a sign of boredom. I just put them outside anyway because I respect all forms of life)
I will always think that a black cat crossing your path is a good sign (contrary to popular belief) and if it is on Halloween night, you are going to get really happy. It happened to me only once a few years ago while going Trick or Treating with my son and it made me so happy that I am still today, just thinking about it.
The easy thing (like my mother did) is to just get a black cat as your pet so every time he/she crosses your path, it brings you luck.
I never broke a mirror and I hope I never will because I know it would bring me seven years of unhappiness, so I am extremely careful considering mirrors.
I do not wear green (even on St Patrick’s Day, I am French, not Irish, so what?). Green is beautiful but it is reserved for Mother Nature only: the grass, the leaves on the trees, the color of the sea sometimes… not what you should wear.
I do not have anything about salt.
I guess superstitions are all about what you were taught as a kid. Like religion really. People would not believe what they believe if their parents did not make them believe in the first place because themselves were made to believe in that young and vulnerable age where you believe everything from Santa Claus to whatever. When I see people dragging their young kids to church like they were dragged by their parents…it’s an endless circle.
It would be nice if nobody under the age of maturity (18? 20?) should be forced to believe in anything by their parents. So when you are mature enough, you can make your own choice and then you realize you do not need to make any, then religions would cease to exist and then all the wars would cease to exist and then, at last, the wish of Miss America would be fullfilled and there would be peace in the world with nobody wearing green and killing spider in the evening.

what i used to be most superstitious about was walking on cracks in the pavement. this, of course, turned into a bad case of ocd later down the road and i've gotten over that. another one would be white cats - not black cats. usually white cats who crossed my path were an omen to me and has proved it on several occasions.
truth is, superstitions create a lot of problems in my opinion. not just because some of it can cause ocd, but because it's based on the power of suggestion. the reason why i say that is because if you are superstitious about a black cat yadda yadda, you will automatically think "oh crap, something bad is going to happen". then guess what? it does. the power of suggestion is very powerful and can make a person freak out with a drop of a hat. how i got rid of mine was that i let these things happen - these superstitions happen. then i told myself that i wouldn't let it affect me the way it's done before. now i'm superstitious free.

Superstitious originates from folklore... when many civilizations didn't using writing as their medium they used storytelling as there means of passing through information and news. Often these stories were embellished so they would be recalled and passed down to the next generation and soon one action become a "known" for example.. if you spill salt you need to throw it over your left shoulder to prevent bad luck... an action becomes a conversation that then becomes through the Ages a superstition.

iam not superstitious at all, superstition has no solid ground to base the fears upon, except the storys that get passed around .Like black cats are the presence of evil or walking under ladders is dangerous or bad luck. i dont believe in luck either ,i do believe in time or "good timing" and i believe in chance, another way of saying opportunity. The bible says that time and chance happens to all men. Superstition is built on fear, Christians are to be built up in the love of God,and perfect love casts out fear, notice1st john 4;18.People pass around the idea of being superstitious as if it were a joke and maybe to some it is , but for too many it is real to them and many have lived out their lives with belief of these false ideas. Its good to have a side of us that is lighthearted and comical , but we need to be a people that know what truth is and what it is not! our belief system should not be all clouded up with superstitious ideas that do not exist except in the minds of some, but our minds should be filled up with understanding of who the living God is . Anyway i got away from my answer ,sorry, superstition tells us to be afraid of what will happen to us if we go out on friday the 13th,for example. But actually it is a day like any other day. but when folks get us thinking about things in superstitious terms than it builds our fears rather than us having a solid understanding.anyway, thank you

I'm not...although if I'm walking towards a ladder I will always remember what they say while I walk under. If I spill salt, I will throw a little over my shoulder and then tell myself how stupid that was.
Right now I have a lovely standing mirror which is cracked. Everyday I look at it and think of the 7 years bad luck it might be causing but I won't get rid.
I guess my mother got to me as well...but I fight it.

Whenever i get a new purse or wallet, i leave a coin or 2 in it and put it away, not throw it away(throwing money away). I also do the whole salt thing, and dry a chicken wishbone in sugar everytime we have a roast(sweet dreams and good wishes). I also hand over knives handle first(dont want to hurt anyone emotionally). If i walk under a ladder or a black cat crosses my path i turn around clockwise 3 times then stamp 3 times.

I am superstitious about the FCC. They are trying to hide the truth from us. They control what we hear and see on the biggest information delivery system.

Yea...The ladder thing and opening an umbrella inside. Also, putting your shoes on a table. That's Bad!! The black cat thing too... somwhat. I've heard about the salt thing, but I didn't hear about it until I was older so, it doesn't affect me. I still don't know what happens if you spill it. Oh well... it's just as well.
