Calm down take a deep breath and relax. I don't know if you can tell the sex of the baby at 17 weeks but most likely you can. Stop using the weed you know it is not good for you or your baby . The nausea should be almost over and that flutter you feel is your baby moving around. You are starting to show and everything seems fine so if you stop doing the things you know you should not be doing I would guess that things will be fine. Good luck and may the good Lord bless you and your little one.

Usually gender can't be determined until 18-20 weeks of gestation, but that differs for everyone and it also depends on the position of the baby. My friend found out at 17 weeks also and they were correct. There is an old wives tale to find out the sex of the baby and that is to take a long piece of thread, tie it to a ring and hold it over your pregnant belly and keep your hand steady. If it swings in a circle, that indicates girl, if it swings back and forth or side to side, that indicates a boy. This is only correct about 75% of the time though, but it's fun to do. And the cannabis part is 50/50, I know people who have done it while pregnant and most of the time, the child is unharmed as long as the use wasn't too often and was in moderation. But some of their children will be a little slower in mental development.

The baby's gender can be determined at 17 weeks, and usually with accuracy.
You should worry about your child. Marijuana use in a pregnant woman can lead to low birth weight, tremor, cognitive and motor problems in a baby. Even though some people argue that there hasn't been enough studies done on marijuana-using pregnant women, there's no dodging the fact that consuming marijuana typically involves smoking and that is exposure to carbon monoxide and reduces oxygen to your baby. Plus, it doesn't take a genius (or studies for that matter) to conclude that the baby will get stoned along with the mother - I'm sure that's great for brain development.
If you think you have a problem, you need to get help. It's NOT okay to smoke pot while your pregnant. The bulk of the baby's brain development is about to take place (late 2nd trimester, early 3rd) - if you have managed to avoid damaging your child so far, it's not too late to stop smoking pot.

My cousin used cannabis throughout her entire pregnancy and her chald is abnormally small, almost dwarfish, not very nright and hyperactive. QUIT NOW. Start eating properly (Buy what to expect when you are expecting) and start exercising.
"It is recommended that couples trying to conceive abstain from marijuana use, since it can interfere with conception. But if you are already pregnant, you needn't worry about your past smoking-there is no present evidence that it will harm your fetus. Continuing to smoke marijuana now that you have found out your pregnant is a different story. Some though not all, studies show that women who use marijuana even infrequently as once a month throughout pregnancy are more likely to gain inadequate weight; suffer from hyperemesis(severe and chronic vomiting), which can interfere seriously with prenatal nutrition if not treated; have dangerously raid labor, prolonged or arrested labor, or a cesarean section; have a low-birthweight baby (though the increased risk is small); show meconium staining of the amniotic fluid during labor (a complicationn that can indicate fetal distress); and have a baby that needs resuscitation after delivery. Although there is no clear-cut evidence of an increased incidence of malformations in the babies of marijuana users, there have been reports of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome-like charcteristics as well as tremors vision abnormalities, and a withdrawal-like cry during the newborn period. Marijuana has also been shown to adversely affect placental function and the fetal endocrine system, potentially interfering with the successful completion of pregnancy. Based on the available evidence, the United States surgeon genereal has warned that marijuana use by a pregnant woman may be hazardous to he health of the fetus she is carrying. So treat marijuana as you would any other drug during pregnancy. Don't take it unless it is medically required and prescribed. If you have already smoked early in your pregnancy, don't worry. Since most of the negative effects of marijuana appeeeear to occur as pregnancy progresses, it's very unlikely any harm was done. Any pregnant woman who can't seem to break her marijuana habit should tell her preactitioner or seek other prefessional help as soon as pregnancy is confirmed."
Yes however, if the baby is in a proper position they can tell the sex...

Hi! Stop any using right now and then leave it in God's hands. He put it there for some good reason, even if there is something wrong. All kids are blessings. Don't worry too much because most of us women that had babies in the 70's took pot and drank lots because no one said that it could hurt the baby. That was found out later. Babies usually turned out fine. The gender of a baby is already done right after conception. (according to Biology) In order for a doctor to tell, they have to have a good enough picture.(Sonogram) Remember, pregnancy means you will constantly feel that you aren't going to be a good mother, you will always feel that you could do more for that child and you will always have another human being in this world made especially for you. It's the hardest thing and the best thing! Smile. talk to your doctor, eat right, talk to your little babe and don't stress. You are the only one God chose to bring this child into this world. You are special because many women can't conceive. Good luck sweet girl!

first of all... stop using the dope.
Seriously, this can harm your baby in the womb. It can stunt your babies growth and cause serious defects.

As for the sex, it's generally done between 18 and 26 weeks. However, this is providing your baby is showing it for all to see, some babies are in positions where you cannot see the genital area. OFTEN Radiologists miss a penis and announce a girl, or mistake a part of the umbilical cord for a penis and announce a boy.

First of all yes you can tell the sex of the baby at 17 weeks but i think it is hard so it would probably depend on the level of experience of the person doing your scan. Secondly, it is harmful to smoke cannibas while pregnant & if you go on line & read the effects it will certainly make you think twice about it. Stay clean for your baby & get help if this is too hard for you to do alone. Best of luck.

stop using cannabis you are seriously harming your child. It will be born addicted to the stuff. and until you quit you are going to be a lousy mother. as far as the scan goes i think you can tell but why would you want to know thats the point of waiting the nine months to find out at the end. by the way cannabis also stunts the babies growth which would explain why you aren't that big. im appalled
