It's a great city, I have a good mate from there (met him when I was working on the same Squadron as him) and I'm friends with his sister now, too. I've spent many a weekend in Liverpool having a great time!

I come from the South East, but I do love Liverpool. I live in Preston at the moment so I'm only a stone's throw away!

The people of Liverpool are the salt of the earth(that is, most of them, you get scum bags is any city), I left Liverpool 18 years ago, my family still live there, I now live in Bristol and I love it here too.

PRO:

-Friendly, genuinely nice people...no exageration!
-Amazingly good lokking women...I wonder why this is?
-Beautiful architecture
-Excellent university
-Feels like a foreign city...seems like an odd combination of Ireland and the USA...A sort of Celtic Capitol.
-Great sports fans
-A place where music is valued like a gift from God

CONS:

-Lots of street crime and narcotics
-The male population are obsessed with presenting themselves off as tough guys. Every guy you meet will sooner or later tell you about how they used to box or practice martial arts, or kicked everyones @ss at their local pub one night, or whatever...
-WAY Behind the times when it comes to fashion and culture. Men still shave their heads and wear track suits for Christ's sake!. How 1990s is that! Believe it or not, a guy with longish hair actually attracts strange looks here! Makes you wonder how often some of these people get outside their postal code.
-Football is a religion, full stop. I've yet to understand what exactly underlies the thought process of what makes people pledge their lives to either Everton or Liverpool. There isn't any secular tribalism like you see in Glasgow that explains it, or even a geographical/neighbourhood division kind of a thing as we have when choosing which football team in to support London. It just seems so damn odd how these people will fight to the death over a mere colour.
-The accent almost seems too old world in today's highly literate society. It's a shame how often outsiders really can't understand just what it is some of these people are saying.
-Lots of people running around with unintelligible hibernicised surnames. Its like being in Ireland when they translate a simple family name like Murphy or Kelly and put it in some sort of unrecognisable Gaelic form. They do that a lot up here too. Be prepared to meet a lot of guys named Paddy while you're in Liverpool too.
-Many of my female friends complain the local girls dress sluttier than anywhere they've ever been. I on the other hand, kind of like that.
-There aren't a lot of options for dining out.
-It is improving, but it still is light years away from being a tourist friendly place with a variety of restaraunts and attractions. Consequently, the local tourist industry hasn't figured out how to give guests basic ammenities which are taken for granted nearly everywhere in America or London.
-At the end of the day, most people in Liverpool are still very poor. The poverty rate here is almost 3rd world in some neighbourhoods.

Liverpool is my favourite city. There is absolutely nothing that I don`t love about it. Nothing! I love the port, the old red brick buildings, its history, its people, its atmosphere (I especially love it when it gets misty and has this spooky, creative atmosphere), I even like its weather! And no problem about the people either! I would love to have their accent! Isn`t it possible to switch with someone? I give you my home in Greece! Lol!

As a Londoner, I must say I love the North-West; Liver-Manc area. I think this region has the best looking women in Britain.
