I personally feel the hand of God whenever I'm on the high end of the spectrum emotionally. I think that your emotions are the strongest connection you have with your spirit.

I also personally believe that you don't necessarily have to pray or go to church because God knows what's in your heart and that's all that matters. If you live your life as a good person, letting God work through you, you've opened that door and it swings both ways.

For example, whenever I go outside (my husband and I are avid birdwatchers) and I see a baby chickadee or fledgling exploring their new world, I get this giddy, happy feeling and to me that's the touch of God bringing me joy. In return, the way I thank God is by way of appreciating the beauty of nature and never taking it for granted.

I've also felt God whenever my compassion for others motivates me to do things to help out.

God can also touch you in times of extreme despair and sadness. God sees the tears we shed for those we can't help and feels the sadness letting him know that we are part of him.

I guess to sum it up, anything that touches your heart also touches your soul, therefore, God is the only one that talks to you in this way. God in the only one with the keys to your heart, spirit and soul.

If you're moved by something, God was there. If you've cried tears of joy, God gave you a loving *thwack* on the heart, if you feel compassion, God is calling you to serve Him, if you feel guilty, God is reminding you of who you are, if you feel emotional pain, God is only revealing something to you...if you feel pity, God is giving you that nudge to go help someone. If you feel peace, God has touched you to just let you know he's there...

If you feel love, God has revealed the greatest gift of all.

That's how God talks to US. To respond or talk back to God, take action whenever he reveals himself to you. He'll hear you.

You can talk back to God by acknowledging these feelings (good or bad) and either appreciating him for the positive energy you've been blessed with or reaching out to comfort or help those around you that might not know what God feels like.

I think that's what people mean when they say that God works through us...and we all have the potential to be earth-bound angels through our love and compassion... our reward is the love and happiness that whatever brings us joy gives.

When all is said and done, God gave us a free will and the way we prove to Him if we revere him are the choices we make with that free will and whether or not we decide to love for Him. If we accept the hand of God for what it is and we let Him work through us all the while actively appreciating the good things in our lives, I think that's what makes God happy.

And imagine that, I'm a "pagan" Nature Worshipper (defined by the fact that I don't follow an organized religion)...but just because I'm one of those, doesn't mean I can't love and honor God too....
