Why should Yahoo be expected to protect your database? Your computer's security is up to you. Use a good firewall, Windows XP's firewall is good, Zone Alarm has a firewall, you can use one or the other but not both. You can encrypt your database so no one can get into it -- including you if you forget the password.

No, Yahoo has no control over your internet connection.

You protect yourself by installing a firewall and by following best practices for securing your networks and applications.

yahoo has done his part

1) it secures it server, so no one can get into it
2) tells you or forces you to have complicated password
so can have better security
