Magnets are disasterously bad for CRT screens (the not-TFT ones). If you bend the colour mask you can permanently damage the screen. Forever. Irreperable. Magnets are disasterously bad for hard disks and floppy disks and tape drives if you have any. The magnet can wipe out the data on the disk or tape. Not much else in a PC is adversely affected by magnets though.

Saying that, small magnets on a steel case of a PC are probably not going to do any serious damage as the case should act as a keeper... especially for those designed to stick notes to notice boards. Even so, if you notice any colour fringes on the CRT near them take them away... and avoid the case round where the disk / diskette / tape drives are just in case...they should be OK but you'd hate to damage your hard disk.

The stronger the magnet the more risk... so if little button magnets are OK doesn't mean it's OK to use a loudspeaker magnet.

Being an Electronic Technician for 12 years,, I can think of no effect such a tiny magnetic field would have on the computer. Besides. the vast majority of the tiny fields are fully contained within the steel of the case of the computer. No Effect.

yes absolutely it is dangerous to your computer..screens and monitors are typically sensitive to magnetic elements..try having a magnet put in front of a tv, it will change the color of it..

more hazardous than that, datas which consist of logic 0 and logic 1 travel in the memory of a computer that once altered with an outside force will result in a system crash..

even if it a small magnet, it will have an entire effect on the transportation of data..

in technical term, magnets produce emf or electromotive force that alters the behavior of a data..

Yes it is, as it affects the hard drive, which store's data on it magnetically.
