I speak English. I associate SIT with the action of sitting down, like to sit on a chair. Let's go sit over there... Where is she sitting?.. that kind of thing.

my first thought was child care (you know as in baby sitting) maybe cause i do alot of that .then to sit up or down.and then as in to sit as in posing for a painting, even if you stand for the picture the session is called a sitting. (american english)

Sit like that sounds like a command. I think of an instruction to a dog. (English is my language).
