I am thinking of getting a 67 camaro, fitted with a 350 ci engine, should i change the suspension, steering..etc? It will be an everyday car with the occational drag races. ( anything with wheels is legal in our roads by the way)

If the org. Camaro had a 6 cyl installed (the 350 was not an option in 1967, 302 or the slower 327 were offered) , you should change the Trans and springs. Everything should be ok. Also, you will need to beef up the rear leaf springs to avoid wheel hop. Enjoy, the 67's are one of GM's best.

It depends on how much you want to spend. One of my favorite mods is take the original 350 motor and have it stroked out to 383. A well built 383 stroker motor will provide more TQ and HP and still be streetable, but yet good for the occasional run down the drag strip. 383's like to breath so make sure you size up the carb properly. Don't over carb. 650-750 CFM is customary. Get a good set s of heads.......this can't be stressed enough. A good set of heads will guarantee a performance increase. Tear the exhaust system off and get a decent set of long tube headers, and a set Flow-master mufflers. Then once that is done start to mod the rest of car, such as tranny, suspension and such. You may be able to get as much as 440 HP and close to 490ft/lbs of TQ from this motor.

I don't know why you are considered a moron for wanting advice on your car. This IS the right place for that........

'67's are a good choice for what you want to do, as the weight something like only 2900 lbs without a lot of options, and ANY GM V8 will fit into the large engine bay. Parts are available from MANY aftermarket suppliers, especially performance parts.

GO for it and have fun. (wish I had MY '67 back) (and my '55, '57, '62 SS, '64 Impala, '66 Caprice, '70 Malibu)

You can measure the center of the spindle to the center of the rear axle. Then find a full frame that can be welded to the same length. The frame will house the engine width and suspension you desire. Example, a 455 Rocket car will hold a 545 SS engine. A small block frame will hold a small block engine etc:..

I would just start building up the engine. If its just a occasional drag car. why worry about the suspension untill you start diggin harder with the motor.
