icse? can you be more specific?
also if you like to get a good idea the web is good for references
in google just look for the GED and gather as much info as you can
find . i studied some of the free practice tests , also alot of good tips on writing an essay.
if you want to write an essay. i recommend it be a 5 paragraph
on 1 page.
1st. you main 3 points(ideas)
2nd your first point
3rd your second point
4th your third point
5th you conclusions(summary)
think of it this way.
you are a prosecutor in court. with 3 accusations
you gotta state your 3
then you gotta prove each one by one
to the jury
and the(summary) is basically your closing argument.

i used this method and passed my test.

You should divide your essay in 3-4 parts like:
1. Introduction
2. Description
3. Good or bad, dos & don’ts, bright side or dark side etc
4. Conclusion
Write independent texts for all the above four parts and then assemble them in an essay. However, you should have basic and near advanced knowledge of that subject. You should also have adequate vocabulary and style of writing required for high school standards.
Now go ahead with the above formula and write an excellent essay...
