There are many good websites. Vigorous has listed a good selection of them. My favorite one is

But, ya know, Beatrix Potter is known as a woman of the book, and I think you should get to know her well in a book -- not a website, not a movie, but a book that measures up to her level.

For that you need to find The Tale of Beatrix Potter by Margaret Lane (1945, recently reissued by Penguin). It tells the whole story: the puzzling, romantic, sad, satisfying, providential, inspiring story. It traces her life, beginning as an overprotected city child, a timorous young writer who falls in love with her handsome young publisher, broken-hearted when he dies unexpectedly, then a quietly assertive young woman, a sheep-farmer for thirty years, a world-famous writer and illustrator for children, a conservationist intent on preserving the land as she found it, a contented wife of her solicitor in the sheep country who abandoned her writing and enjoyed her life. This book told her story for the first time, just two years after her death in 1943.

Now, nothing's every gonna beat the Tale of Peter Rabbit, or the Tale of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, or the Tale of Mr. Jeremy Fisher, or the Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck, but if you really want to get to know the woman behind those books and still alive in those books, you really should read The Tale of Beatrix Potter.
