Are you able to let this person stay with you? That is one way to help a person who has been a victim of a natural disaster.

After Hurricane Katrina, many Americans opened their homes to people displaced by the hurricane. I offered space in my home, but many felt it was too far away from New Orleans ( I live in California). However, if someone lost their home in an earthquake, I would offer to let them stay in mine.

I personally wouldn't give them money, unless you know you will get it back, with no regrets. If they needed a place to stay and refused your home then that person really doesn't need your help. If they do stay in your home you may could help them with getting back and forth to work, if that's not possible then look to the aid of the government.
Most likely they will be a bit moody because of everything, but don't let them take advantage of you at all.
Explain that you don't have that much money but don't mind giving them food or the like. If they don't understand they are not much of a friend.

first thing you should do is show that you really care. believe me that matters. when you say natural disaster was his or her house wiped off? if yes you could offer him or her a few weeks in your house till he or she is settled. what of clothes? i'm sure you can spare a few if its needed. about the money, you don't need to have all the money in the world before you can help a friend, any amount of money you can give is just okay. because its not about the amount but the love coming with it. i wish you and your friend well.

Take your friend to a local red cross or possibly fire station to get him/her some kind of assistance because the government collected billions of dollars to help all the people that were struck by natural disaster. It is only fair for them to actually use it towards the people it was intended for. They will be able to either help your friend or, tell your friend how he/she can go about receiving the help needed.

You can help by calling around to find out if there are any groups giving assistance to these people. You can also help by feeling out her paperwork for her on your PC.
