A world without internet, better or worse?

Question

What if the www never existed? Sure the web has many benifits- fast access to info etc. But how would it affect society and culture? Do you think people would be more sociable and get out more rather than sittin online all day / night? Or do you think a world without it would be a bad thing?

Please note- I mean, if we never had internet to begin with. Never experienced- i'm not saying if it was taken away from you! What never existed, can't me missed can it?

I personally think that the more connected we are, the more disconnected we get, socially.

I mean gone were the days when face-to-face human interaction are sought after. Instead, a smiley or a simple e-card is sent in exchange of the warmth that a human presence can bring.

Sure, internet brings other added benefits, foe example, more opportunities discussion among it's fellow netizens of varied background, school of thoughts, ideals and many more. People can learn more from each other. Learning becomes more efficient while business dealings are made more effective.

But I for one think that as more wired we are to the cyber world, we tend to be less attuned to our less-then-cyber world- the world we live in.

I think that while internet is undoubtedly a boon for the modern society, I think that we should take a step back and not allow the Internet to take over our lives.

I tend to think that people will be more expressive with their emotions, without internet.

Funny Question! You must be young, because anyone that's past 30 know what it's like to live without the Internet. And yes, people were more sociable and kids played outside! But with the Internet or without things would be as they are, because they were prophesied thousands of years ago and GOD is never wrong when HE prophesies about anything!

Those who stay on-line "day and night" already have those social instincts. It has nothing to do with the Internet. A world without the Internet would be a HUGE step backwards. The immediate access to information is unparalleled.

I think it would be bad as it wouldn't b easy to talk to someone in china if you have 2 keep sending letters and it would cost you a fortune in texts and phone calls. Also the WWW is a huge source for fast and good information and has helped me a lot so it would be bad if the WWW didn't exist. =)

People would be more productive. Could probably think for themselves versus reading a few other people's opinions and taking that as truth. Maybe someone level 3 or higher on Answers can confirm this. Naw, doubt it, not without politics, religion, how to get a date or some fragmented sentence coming into play.

in a lot of ways a good thing paedophiles wont be able to down load horrific photos of children, and people wont be able to sell thoughs photos,and Young teens wont get abducted by men be tending to be young boys on chat rooms etc. BUT bad to because we would have to go back to letters that take forever to write and post. and paying bills would be nightmare. but i think the world could adapt again with out the Internet.
