This sounds weird but it is a real problem and i need advice my brother is 33yo and has always been know to bend the truth and exegerat alot but always on things that made since, normal things to say, but in the last 3 years he has been telling stories of things and is completly obsessed with each story he tells he swares everything he says is the truth, for a while he was telling everyone that he was bit by a black widow all the time, and of course no signs of bites but lately he thinks that he is sent to people to help the with religous matters, he says god tells him who needs help and he'll drive around for hours a find someone that he is certan god told him to help, he see's angels and demons and talks to god and can hear god talking back, he has been dating the same girl for 8 yrs but he is telling everyone the he has serval wives that god apointed to him he's talking weird to everyone. i can't get him to go to a doc, he's thinks i'm evil and am trying to get him commited , help!

The girl that he is dating has a low iq court proven but holds a job at the same place that he works but she swares to everything that my brother says, so she is no help, i far as i know he doesn't do drugs but there is one interesting fact about him he smoke cigaratte but he trys to hide it from my parents and me, he's been smoking for 15 years he's 33years of age and even i smoke, every one knows he smoke but in his head i guess he doesn't think that we know, weird huh, he will not go to the doctor, just some more info about him

Well, I went trough a similar situation a few years ago with the love of my life.(no longer together) It's a possibillity it could be drugs( crystal meth causes dillussions) or maybe he is having a psychotic break. Whatever the case may be, he needs to medically evaluated.
I wish you the best because situations like this can be really taxing and painful. Mental illness takes alot of courage to deal with. May god be with you.

Very weird indeed, but if you have 2 family members sign a paper in court to have him committed it will be done. However,it does depend on how the laws are in your state. He may end up being mad at you though. Also, you may end up feeling guilty for doing it.
My brother is schizophrenic and talks crazy allot, and was sent away by court order because he got in trouble. But, when he came back from the mental institution he was like a zombie, I couldn't even be around him hardly. (He is my twin.) My brother is a little better now, but he has to take his medication or he will start talking crazy again. I feel really bad for him because sometimes it seems like they are using him as a test subject or something, but then again he needs all the help he can get because in his sittuation it only gets worse.
It sound as though he is delusional, or he is very bored and makes things up for attention.
It could be a mid life crisis. Does he know how this makes him look?
I would definitely try and get him to talk to someone. Maybe a preacher/priest , since he thinks God is talking to him and he sees demons. Maybe he will go for it because the preacher/ priest could "relate" with him these visions.
I do wish you good luck. I am know expert on this at all, but he dose need help.

Sounds like this guy's gone off the deep end, I'd ask a psycaiarist or councilor who has some experience with this kind of problem, you should be able to find psyciatric or counseling services in the yellow pages.
NEVER get information from the internet or random postings, that could be posted by anyone and odds are they don't completely understand the concepts of pycological disease
Ask a professional and make sure he can't hurt himself or the people around him, and don't do anything to upset him unless a qualified professional tells you otherwise, you dont know if his conition can make him violent

Well he needs to go and see a Doctor. He might have a tumor on his brain or something. I used to know a old man that talked like that, and that is what he had. Good luck and may God Bless you and may he help you figure out a way to see him to a doctor.

You should ask a professional. In Canada unless a person is proven to be a threat to himself or others they can't be committed. Just tell him you love hime, and are always there for him. And stay in touch. Don't get into his fantasies. Just nod your head and change the topic. Good luck.

Wow, can anyone convince him to go to a doctor? Maybe the girl he has been dating for 8 years can convince him to see a doctor. If he has any friends or anyone else close to him, maybe they can convince him. Try to do whatever you can as soon as possible because I hear with those cases, timing is imperitive for any chance of help.

Im not sure if the Doctor believs in God or Jesus so that is out because Dactors believe in science. so he will have to go to a pracher who will really listen to him, and you don't seem to be listening to him.

If he holds a job then just try to not get too involved in his personal life. His beliefs are his. If he is functional in society and doesn't cause anyone anyharm then you have to live with what he believes and says. Loving him is simply suppose to be unconditional. Just find a way to not get too emotional involved in his personal life. That's just the way it is.

Your brother sounds like a guy I know named Steven.
He was diagnosed with functional Schizophrenia.
Dont try to diagnose your brother, but you may check out a few sites to better understand him.

i say set it up this way...have a preist come and talk with him...being that your brother thinks he is a messanger from god he might be more open to talk to a priest..and maybe once evaluated by him he can choose the right words to convience him to go to a doctor...good luck
