The Americans are falling into the trap put by al-Qaeda long ago.
Themain point is to involve US and its allies into a conflict onth Muslim land and to defeat them by attrition. Thus the strategic aim of al-Qaeda is to mobilize and radicalize as many Muslims as possible. Besides that, the idea is to create a battlefield if there is none.
So sending more American GIs to Iraq will certainly cause more black plastic bags purchase. The insurgents are already claiming to be in control in several provinces - Kirkuk, Salah al-Din, Ninawa, and parts of Babel and Wasit, and so-called Ismaic state of Iraq is headed by the Emir of the Believers, Abu Omar al-Baghdadi. The main insurgency front is composed of a variety of insurgency groups, including the Mujahideen Shura Council in Iraq (head organization - al-Qaeda in Iraq), Conquering Army [Jeish al-Fatiheen], Army Squad of the Prophet Muhammad [Jund al-Sahaba], Brigades of al-Tawhid Wal Sunnah, and Sunni tribes.
Besides that Shia Mahdi militia is in charge in Iraq now, even though Pentagon has named it as the most dangerous terrorist organization in Iraq. These people have actually executed saddam hussein (one could hear on video tape executors shouting Moqtada Sadr slogans).
So this is an environment where soldiers will have to be in.
Think again - 20000 soldiers more is more targets than problem-solvers. Iraq is in full-scale civil war today.

A well supplied military with overpowering numbers is the best way to win a war. The sad thing is that it took the administration so long to figure out what successful war generals have been doing for thousands of years.

They will certainly be targets. They are now. I don`t know what the kill ratio as opposed to US casualties is, but i would hazzard a guess as to US troops killing enemies at about 100-1.

I suggest this to fix it all. We the USA, should just drop an atomic bomb on IRAQ and end this once and for all!!

Why not? WE DID IT BEFORE and it ended a war? even though we already won the war in iraq many terrorist are still hiding out there and using road side bombs to hit us, so why not just pull us out and drop one BIG BOMB

They'll kill some more insurgents, and perhaps a small few will commit another heinous crime involving civilians and get Iraqis even more pissed at us, creating more insurgents. Then we need to start all over again.

more troops will help scare insurgents which will temporarily dampen violence, but if we want them to establish a government we have to make them happy at some point.
