Removal the battery pack and press the on button.
(It sound stupid but I'm providing you a chance to recover your laptop.)

Yes the laptop of course will not start.
Now plug your power source (power cable) back to the laptop.
If you able to see lights... Congratulation!

If no, unplug your power source (power cable) and remove your RAM and try again.
If no, remove your harddisk and try again.

I suspect when you remove your battery pack and plug in you power source should work because USB only supply with 5volt of current.
Enought to surge your battery pack but might not able to do any further damage.

Hope it works for you.

Leave it off for a while, then do what we tech guys call a power reset. unplug it and pull out the battery. then hold the power button for 10 seconds. this will drain all the electricity from all the capacitors inside. then put back in the battery and plug it in and try to turn it on. if it works, great, otherwise you fried your motherboard. and should call warranty repair services.

You shorted out the 5volts inside the USB connector. Hopefully, your laptop and/or battery charger (power supply) has tripped a timed reset and you did not fry your motherboard.

Do this:
Unplug power supply from laptop.
Pull plug on power supply from wall.
Turn laptop over, pull your battery.
Open memory door, pull any memory SODIMMS
Put memory back in
Put battery back in
Plug power supply into wall outlet
While holding down the power on button on laptop, plug in the
power jack to back of laptop.
This should reset it if it emergency tripped.

Good Luck

Let the computer sit for awhile before you re-try to turn it on.

where did you buy it? is it still under warranty? I hope so because you should talk to them... if it's not under warranty, you will have to take it in to be repaired..... be warned....laptop repair is uber expensive.... hope this helps.
