Hi, I'm 18 and I've never worn make up before, I'm planning to start wearing now, but I really don't know what I should buy, I don't think that my lips need anything because they're already red and small, the thing that I have problems with is my skin and my eyes, my skin doesn't look that shiny especially when I'm tired ...plus I don't get enough sleep, and when I'm tired my eyes look like sleepy, what should I wear to hide these probs?

Start neutral and small, until you know what you like. I agree with you on the lips, actually, most women DON'T need anything on their lips but they wear it anyways...

First, for your skin, select a water-based foundation (anything else clogs your pores and makes life difficult) that is slightly lighter than your natural skin color. Only slightly lighter, otherwise you will look like a ghost. Incidentally, make sure it's not darker either, because people will see the difference in color around your neck and face...and let's just say it's a little embarassing.

Alright, when you apply your foundation, dab some on your fingers and rub it in with small circular motions, until it's completely blended, and then move on. Don't put too much on in any given area, it will look caked on and that's just...weird. Pay special close attention to your jawline, make sure you blend there, most women miss that and it's a very obvious flaw in makeup that I find very annoying. :)

If your eyes look tired, it may be that you have bags under your eyes. If this is the case, just rub a tiny amount of foundation under your eyes, this should reduce the appearance of them by a good amount.

Another way to make yourself look more alert is mascara. Mascara really opens up your eyes. Make sure you apply it evenly and I suggest only putting it on your top lashes, when you try to put it on the bottom it tends to clump and look goopy...and then it's worse than before. Make sure you get the roots of your eyelashes, so it looks like your entire lash is long and black. I've seen some mascara users with half lashes, where they didn't get the roots and their eyelashes just appeared out of nowhere on their eye...it looks very silly, so make sure you get the roots.

You could try some light eyeliner if you wanted, but again, try to stick to the top lid. Anything on the bottom lash or under your eye pulls the appearance of your eye downwards, and gives you the effect of being tired or sad (and that's what we're trying to fix). Unless you are very practiced in making it look professional, don't try to put anything on the bottom. You can try it later after you're used to makeup.

That's all the basics, hope this helped. If you want more advice, email me.

If you have problems with your skin, make sure you buy good make up. The cheep stuff will cause you all sorts of problems. The expensive stuff at the department stores is good. But if you don't have an arm and a leg to spend Almay is good and so is Avon (www.avon.com you can find a rep or have it shipped to your house). You'll need cover up (usually in a stick or small bottle with sponge applicator on a stick) to cover up those under eye circles. Get it a shade lighter than you skin. Dab the cover up under your eyes. It doesn't need to be a thick coat as you are going to put foundation over it. A foundation that matches your skin. Something light. A foundation powder combo would be good. Apply over your entire face (including eye lids this helps you eye shadow stay). Some neutral eye shadow (a nice brown duo is good). Just put the lighter color from lash to brow and then the darker color form lash to crease. Then apply a black or brown/black mascara. On you lips (because you said they were small and red) use a clear gloss. The shine will help make them look bigger.

PS Many makeup brands sell eye brightener/under eye circle make up. It's usually green or yellow. I've even seen orange. You can buy this too. Don't worry, you won't have yellow circles around your eyes.

Try wearing a cool gel eyemask to bed when you do manage to get some sleep. These are supposed to reduce puffiness of the eyes and should make them look fresh. If your eyes still look sleepy then use a concealer under your eye area to hide bags. Make sure the concealer matches your skin tone exactly or it will look worse. Use a clear gloss for your lips because it will still leave the red colour but it will bring them out more. If you want your skin too look shinier then apply moisturiser but you dont want it too shiny. Also outline your eyes with eyeliner and either black or clear mascara depending on how defined you want your eyes! hope I helped

When you start to wear make-up you need to start with lighter colors. I find that when I have some bags under my eyes I put on a little more eyeliner than normally and I'm okay. The most impotant thing though is you really should get 7-9 hours of sleeps each night (I prefer the latter).

hi, i assume i you kinda look like your avatar. well to start you off you should moisturize your skin even if you are not gonna put makeup on. maybe even a tinted moisturizer for a bit of coverage to even out your skin tone, then if you need to put concealer on your under eye puffyness. set it with loose powder by brushing it on all over your face and neck. you can use some cheek tint or creme to powder blush on, the shades for you should be something like wine, burgundy, maroon or scarlet so that you will look naturally flushed as it will look good with your pale skin tone. just add some lip balm to your lips if you don't want any color. also you can add some nude shimmery eyeshadow to your lids. for night or formal affair use a darker shade of shadow with the nude as your base then apply the darker shade on the outer corners of your eyes to open them up. always curl and add mascara to your lashes as this will also open them up. try clinique because it is gentle on the skin.

hey, well first of all buy some foundation and if you want stuff for your eyes you can get mascara, eyeliner or eye shadow. depending on what your looking for. and to brighten you face up a bit you could use some blush. but be careful and dont get the wrong coloured foundation, get the colour that matches your skin the most.

Prescriptives is great for foundation and concealer. They determine what shade your skin is, and then mix the foundation themselves so that it will be a perfect match. It's kinda pricey though (about 40 dollars for a bottle) so if you don't have that much to spend, Clinique is also good for foundation and slightly cheaper (around 20-ish dollars for a bottle).

First of all you dont want your skin to look shiny, you want it to look fresh. The only way to know what you like and what looks good is to experiment. Try different things and see what products and colors you think look best.

-Use some black mascara.
- Use some tinted moisturizer for your skin, it will give you an all over glow.

go to a Mac counter and ask them. of what you told, you need a concealer and some good foundation or facebase. Mac is a good brand of makeup, and the best is when you buy makeup from them, they will even show you how to apply. It's difficult to tell you how to do but it is much easier once someone shows it to you.
