The first consideration is ALWAYS the profitability of the company. Please take lightly any comments about major companies caring for the environment. If anything they do has a positive effect locally then you can bet they will be letting everyone know.

On the other hand local pressure has forced some companies to get their acts together and protect the environment. This for some is a very expensive option. A good example of this is the Wych Farm Oil and Gas fields in Poole, Dorset, England.

You would not know there was a major oil instalation there.....but it costs plenty to keep that place beautiful.

On the other side of the World in the Philipines, companies are still cutting down trees with impunity. Doesnt matter that entire villages have been wiped out in the mudslides that follow. Pay the right people and you get all the papers you need.

International Management has its 'ethical' managers but its important to remember that the company 'god' is always going to be profit.
