If the building is a known haunted place, sometimes someone else will have already done the research for you. The Shadowloands (http://theshadowlands.net/places/oregon.htm) is one such site that lists buildings like the one you've found. Here's another: http://www.myufo.com/ghosts/haunted_places/haunted_oregon/

And try typing in the address, business name or old business names in Google to see if it comes up. Stranger things have happened.

But to do the history of the building yourself, it takes more work. The simpliest method is to start at the County records and assessors office to see who had 1) owned the building and 2) businesses that have been in it. Depending on how old the building it is, this can be a fairly difficult task.

Next, I'd start asking people in the area if they know of anyone who died who worked there. For example, if your business is in an old brick building, perhaps it was a blacksmith shop or a fruit drying business. Someone may have died as a result of an injury at work. Someone may know of a story if you mention the old business name or type.

The state of Oregon does keep records of every death and the cause of death - since 1909 I believe. But unless you are direct family, it's hard to find out much without knowing the name of the person and then proving you are family. More open records are often at the local mortuary - where if you know when the person dies (say witihin 5 years) you may be able to look at their records and see if something doesn't stand out.

Another option is to see if your haunting is strong enough to interest psychic investigators into coming out to see the business and to see if they can tell you clues to help in your search. And don't forget reading old newspapers and asking the local librarian. They may also be able to help.

I doubt you get this sort of info in the Net. You want to go to either the local paper (to see if they have records of either hauntings or of deaths connected to the building) or the local library. It might also be good if you can connect with any locals who have lived in the neigborhood for a long time. They might have heard of something.
However there are some good ghost/haunting sites out there. Maybe someone will post them.
