There are lots ov novels with a Vivian as a character!

Fort a start, I found the following books with a (main) character called Vivian:
"Blood and Chocolate" (1997) by Annette Curtis Klause; character: Vivian Gandillon

"The Crux" (1911) by Charlotte Perkins Gilman; character: Vivian Lane

"Autobiography of Vivian, A Novel" (2002) by Sherrie Krantz
"Vivian lives" (2003) by Sherrie Krantz

There's the eponymous hero of "Vivian Grey" (1827) by Benjamin Disraeli

There's also a weird 15,145-page epic titled "The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What is Known as the Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinnean War Storm, Caused by the Child Slave Rebellion" by Henry Darger.

So you'll probably keep guessing...

Maybe from the Arthurian tales?

"The Lady of the Lake is the name of several related characters who play integral parts in the Arthurian legend. These characters' roles include giving King Arthur his sword Excalibur, taking the dying king to Avalon after the Battle of Camlann, enchanting Merlin, and raising Lancelot after the death of his father. Different writers and copyists give her name variously as Nimue, Viviane, Niniane, Nyneve, and other variations."

The mom in Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood is Vivi, I forget if it's short for Vivian. Sorta matches the description.
