You don't give any details where you work. Different workplaces requires different professional outfit. For example if you work in finance business such as banks or stock exchange then it's better you wear complete skirt and suit and much better in dark colors. Stress the formal appearance.

But if you work in creative fields like in an advertising company, you can dress less formal but still not casual. For example a pair of jeans with shirt. You can add a blazer, scarf, or anything that you can look professional chic.

The most important is that your working dress code depends on the company regulation. If the company you work for has set certain outfits for its employees then you got to obey the rule.

Yeah...dressing up professionally can cost a bomb ussually. However, u can always settle for a budget shop. Where u get a nice thank top or shirt at cheaper prices. Invest in 1-2 good office coat...try getting a black one and that shall do the trick...it's easier to mix and match using a black coat.

Entitle only a maximum of 10% of your pay for ur dressing nothing more than that. That way u can look presentable, professional and at the same time able to save $$.

Another way is that if u dont mind using other people's old clothes...that shall do the trick as well...coz some friends seriously wouldnt mind giving off some of their clothes that they can no longer wear...and nobody in ur office needs to know bout this...if u think it's an embarassing thing. To me...personally...I dont mind...sharing this info...with my colleguas...coz if they were to think anything different or negative of me just coz of this...that itself shows how shallow they are.

It would help if we knew where you worked...

Anyway, wear minimal make-up and keep your hair up unless it's too short. Don't wear huge, dangly earrings or a lot of flashy jewelry--keep it simple.

As far as clothes, it really depends on what kind of job it is. Play it safe the first day and dress really nicely. During the day, look around at what your co-workers are wearing to find out what's acceptable. You may want to ask your supervisor or someone else about the specific dress guidelines.

well, just like the others have replied, it all depends of where do you work, what do you do , then you will know what clothe to wear but since you are new on the company I would suggest that you try not to be toooooo different from other, usually employees with more experience and a longer period on the company, notice this things and it can be bad... take care

Just make sure that you always look clean and fresh. Do nice things with your hair and don't put on too much make-up. Always smile and always be polite. Keep your teeth clean and have a fresh breath. Put on just alittle perfume, don't drench yourself in it. Good luck with your new job.

I would stay away from skirts or dresses, at least for the first couple of days. Some kind of button up blouse, maybe layered with a sweater.
God, I can't believe I'm giving fashion advice.. I'm straight (married), I swear! lol

Dress nice, and give a good impression. People tend to judge you on your first impression. Be nice, but also show that you're in control of yourself.

Well groomed, conservative clothing, minimal jewelry, nothing showing cleavage, no loud colors, no distractions. :)
