If you'd outlined your definition of success, my answer would have been short and sweet. But between your vagueness and my ego, I'll simply have to lay out my plan for my personal vision of success.
1. Wealth. I will make money by working my job (survival in the short term), starting businesses that require a lot of mental work beforehand to think through their systems, and hiring managers to keep the businesses running day-to-day (the first few years will be hard, but thereafter will come easier times). I will invest my earnings, first into the businesses, then into living expenses, then into seeding the projects of other entrepreneurs. Then I can quit my job with no worries.
2. The love of an exceptional woman. I will find the lovely honeys. I will talk with them, tease them, flirt with them, hang out with them, make sweet love to them (possibly down by the fire). One day I will find a truly special woman, who excites all of me, and whom I excite as well. And this time I won't push her away (maybe a little, just to show that I'm not needy... but that's not what I meant).
3. Complete survival. Due to my paranoia, I wish to purchase land, build a castle and a farm (perhaps a vineyard). When I say castle, it hasn't got to be a huge affair. Just something cozy, low-maintenance, and highly defensible. I can compost (which takes care of sewage treatment), use wind and solar power to energize my hot tub and computer, and perhaps finally crack the mystery of using a laptop in a hot tub without... well, you can probably imagine some of the usual problems. I will do this by building wealth, learning construction (so I know what the guys I hire are doing), and scouting out the best plots of land that can be acquired inexpensively (no matter how rich I get, I'll probably always be cheap... but they'll call me frugal).
Hope that helps. Oh, did you say easy root to success? Shoot yourself in the head and hope you go to heaven.

I think your question should be rephrased:
What is the easiest route (note spelling) to success?
For most people, I'd say, "Don't become a mathematician." After that, I'd say, do something you really love doing, so that the hard work is enjoyable, rather than a drag.
Plan your career path, research career opportunites, and find out what's available, and work out what you have to do to get there.
Be optimistic, optimists attract better circumstances than pessimists.
And a large measure of good luck will really help you. I don't know how you get that.
