Here's my situatuion. for months Someone( I have my suspicions on who) has been hacking one of my yahoo accounts.Continuously changing my password and reporting it has not helped. In December they started using it to get into my myspace acct.To stop this I changed the email address to the myspace acct. Tonight I logged into the other account and ecieved multiple messages labled"Unauthorized password retrieval." I checked it out and it gave the date time of multiple attempts to gain access to the account. each one also included the IP address of the person attempting to gain entry. This also happens to be the contact acct. for the yahoo that has been hacked.Upon closer inspection of the messages recieved from yahoo labled password changed it also showed the IP address of the person changing my password. It matched the one of the person who attempted to gain entry to the mail.com account. Can anyone help me figure out how to track it and find out who is doing this??

I won't tell you how to do it, but If you post it or email me, I can give you their ISP, which you can in turn contact and tell them the situation or contact the proper authorities with the ISP and get the ball rolling on a police order.

just do what 'some guy' said, and bring it to the proper authority, because we're not gonna reverse hack someone for you.

this is not trivial... you cannot track the ip address back to a specific person. well, the information you need is there - you can find out what isp the specific ip address belongs to, and the isp knows which of their users was assigned this ip at which time. however, they will not share this information with you. (they would with law enforcement authorities...)

it would be easier if you have access to the computer of the person in mind - or even easier: if you have an email of the person. have a look at the source code of the email (all email programs have some feature for that), the originating ip will be mentioned there. if it is the same - you know that this is your man.

Starters, change your password to something decent, not the name of the dog. Make sure you have a couple of numbers, punctuation and at least 9 characters. Even a brute force or dictionary attack will take years to be able to crack a password like that.

Great site recommended by "some guy" above. I, too, am attempting to track an IP address, yet the reverse lookup tab on the mentioned site keeps bringing me to a mortgage site. "some guy", or anyone else have any feedback on this?
