No, a lot of us weren't in the mindset of having good intentions. In the majority's eyes, sending troops to Iraq was (at the time, pre-invasion) seen as a strike of vengeance at Saddam for his role on 9/11 (Which he didn't have a role to begin with.) and his threats against us with WMDS (Which he didn't have, threats or WMDs.).
We weren't really thinking of liberating anyone when we first invaded Iraq. That reason (liberation) was trotted out after the evidence of WMDs and the Saddam-9/11 link were both found out to be nonexistent.
