to make a local network, you would need a network switch and/ or router. i'd go with the latter, usually cheaper. (sometimes considered the same thing) you can buy them online and in retail electronic stores. there are many models so i'd suggest buying one to fit your computer needs.

that's how you make a local network. by definition, it's just a group of computers connected in the same ip range. (well subnet to be exact, but that's more explaining). buying a router will allow you to have one incoming ip address shared upon a network of computers.
