Alcohol is just as potentially addictive as many illegal drugs. Those who do become addicted to alcohol often lose their marriages, jobs, families, even their lives. A large proportion of homeless people find themselves in that position as a result of their alcoholism. Any drug this addictive and destructive should be illegal.

So, what do you say? Should the sale and consumption of alcohol – the world’s favourite drug – be further restricted, or even banned?

Many people become addicted to food, become morbidly obese, and lose their jobs, family, marriages, and even their lives.
should the sale and consumption of food be restricted?

Of course not.

alcohol is not this evil beverage. americans are funny with alcohol. you're led to believe your entire lives that it's some evil elixer that will kill you if you drink it. a little girl in safeway a couple months scolded her sister when her sister was looking down the alcohol isle saying "that will make you fat and die!"
if used in moderation, alcohol is no more dangerous than a can of coca-cola. if you've read your history books, you know that they already tried to bann alcohol in this country and it didn't work. there is absolutly no reason to ban it. it's a thriving industry that supports thousands, and thousands of people. think of the taxi drivers giving drunks rides home, or the waitresses in the bars trying to support themselves...there are countless people that work in the alcohol industry that would be out of a job. would you be willing to give up your job and starve so they could have a job because of YOUR morals?

this is coming from a girl, whos family has a history of alcoholics. my family has a history of drunks, and at least ten people in the last three generations have died because of alcohol related car accidents. (not necessesarly their fault, like my aunt, who was a passenger in a car that spun out of control on the ice and broke her neck) and yet, even seeing how alcohol can distroy lives, i drink. not a lot, i have my warnings, a million times, in front of my eyes with every smallest sip. i remember being abused by drunken parents growing up, and yet i'm not afraid to drink, and i'm not afraid to get drunk. i just drink responsibly. if this country didn't put so much emphasis on how evil alcohol is, we wouldn't have the problems we do. look at Germany, where alcohol is a part of life from a young age...they aren't afraid to drink, and children are allowed wine with dinner. they dont have the problems that america does with alcohol. because they dont treat it like a drug.

Alcohol already was restricted and banned at one point in time and it was unsuccessful. Ever heard of prohibition? Just because something is made illegal does not mean people will abide by the law. Marijuana and other drugs are illegal but are still available in society.

There are many things that are addictive and/or destructive to humans: alcohol, legal prescribed drugs, pasturized dairy, etc. BUT it makes a profit, and that's why they will always be allowed.

We already tried that. It was called "Prohibition" and it cost millions of dollars and many lives.
Thats why they want to make pot legal.

Yes.

Reinstate the Volstead Act.
